About Geoff
Geoff Hohwald began playing banjo in 1964 in Columbus, Ohio and studied under John Hickman. He has performed with two of Bill Monroe’s guitar players (Tom Ewing and Wayne Lewis), shared stages with Red Allen, Frank Wakefield, and Hylo Brown, played with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, and co-founded the Greater Atlanta Bluegrass Band.
He has led week-long clinics at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina, taught at the Frank Hamilton School in Atlanta and the Pick and Bow Traditional Music School in North Georgia, and offers private lessons and retreat options.
Geoff also runs Banjo Warehouse, a specialty banjo shop in Yellow Springs, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia, where he has been buying, selling, and setting up banjos since 1980.
His instructional videos have millions of views across YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
